Nothing is more beautiful than a grey alpaca, and nothing is harder to produce consistently. Chuck Pesson, the founder of Acadiana Alpacas, loves the challenge because all the various hues of grey are often talked about and studied, but the trick is to manipulate the genetics to produce a superior grey with fabulous fleece. Since he established Acadiana Alpacas in 2014, Chuck has used his background as a physician, coupled with his love of these gentle creatures, to build one of the best grey breeding programs in the entire Southeast.
Meet Qalypso. She was Chuck’s first grey alpaca color champion. She is a beautiful tuxedo grey with unique markings. Chuck says he wanted to buy her as soon as he saw her picture. So, he traveled to Ohio and found her to be even more impressive in person. Since then, Chuck was hooked on alpaca breeding, and continues to build the finest foundation herd possible.
